University of Wollongong’s Innovation Campus named Australia’s Best Business Park
iC wins prestigious Property Council of Australia Innovation & Excellence Award
15 May 2011 - The University of Wollongong’s research and commercial precinct, Innovation Campus (iC), has won the Bluescope Buildings Award for Best Business and Industrial Parks in the Property Council of Australia’s 2011 Innovation and Excellence Awards. The iC outshone a high-calibre field of finalists to take out the prestigious Award.
The Award was presented to the University’s Vice-Principal Administration, Chris Grange, at the Property Council’s Awards Gala Dinner on Saturday 14 May at Darling Harbour.
Commenting on the Award, Mr Grange said: “We are delighted and honoured that the Innovation Campus has been recognised as Australia’s Best Business Park for 2011. From its inception, we have applied the University of Wollongong’s enterprising approach to the Innovation Campus and this included taking on the role of developer and self-funding the iC’s first commercial building.
“We have received terrific support from our property development advisor, Augusta Properties, who have helped us navigate our way as developer and ensure the project remained on track.
“Today, the iC is a vibrant business and research hub attracting local and international tenants including BHP Billiton Illawarra Coal and global ICT services company MphasiS. The iC offers tenants the unique combination of A Grade facilities and proximity to Sydney, as well as synergies with the University’s research strengths. The development of the iC continues and we look forward to an exciting year ahead,” said Mr Grange.
